Will Grinnell is a music industry veteran of more than four decades. He founded his own management, booking, and event agency— Origins Music International—in 1992. At that time, he went on the road as tour manager with many of the artists on his roster and thereby cemented relationships with artists, and promoters alike.
Since moving from the Northeast to Maui with his family in 2010, Grinnell has closed the booking agency side of Origins Music International to follow his 45-year passion for cannabis farming. He became active in the Cannabis industry, founding a cannabis genetics research and production company: Sticky Finger Seeds and helped co-found Deep Green Agency a cannabis advisory firm. He then developed Deep Green Genetics as a department of Deep Green Agency. Grinnell also co-founded the Maui Cannabis Guild and serves as president. The Maui Cannabis Guild is 501c non profit cannabis law reform/ legalization advocacy, and activist organization. Grinnell also is honored to be a team partner with Earthdance Global and is inspired to co-manifest more events with the talented Earthdance team.
I record live at Studio Midnight, and have a great interview with world renowned visionary artist, Chris Dyer. Chris and I have a robust conversation traveling through Chris's life in Peru, and into his time in Canada, and how he got to where he is today. In addition to being a visionary artist, and spearheading his company Positive Creations, Chris also helps facilitate Ayahuasca ceremonies in Peru. This guy is amazing! Join us! www.positivecreations.ca
Chris Dyer is a soul with high intentions for humanity and his self. He is a man on a quest for elevated consciousnesses through natural life experiences and introspections. A medium of the Great Spirit, who opens his vessel and tries to let go of the temporary complications of his ego-mind. A student of life and true soul skater, despite all the falls.Chris Dyer grew up in Lima, Peru until age 17, where he was involved in 80’s skateboarding, 90’s surfing and street gang destructive activities. He eventually moved to Canada to study art for many years. Today he is based in Montreal, where he works out of his home studio “The Positive Portal”
These days he also spends half of his time on the road, making and spreading his art worldwide, as he explores many cultures and himself. By now he has been able to reach over 36 different countries, which has been a chance for him to learn much from a variety of cultures. These powerful experiences has helped him create a flavour of art which fuses many cultures into a spiritual oneness of unity within diversity, which can appeal to all, yet is owned by none.
Chris’ art is rooted in the skateboard culture he has been part of since a young boy, as early as 1986, when he would draw his own board graphics. By the time he left school he focused on fine art done on broken skateboards, as to give new life to that defeated wood. That eventually led him to working in the California and worldwide skate industry, doing graphics for a variety of well respected brands. More recently, he was Art Director of California‘s Creation Skateboards, which he took to the next level with their skate video “Soul Harmonics”. These days he continues to do graphics for a bunch of big brands in the industry including Deathwish and Santa Cruz skateboards.
Chris’ exploration of inner worlds and ability to juggle mediums, styles and themes has made him stand out in the different art movements he is part of. Because of his unique style of psychedelic art, and high productivity, Chris has become one of the leading figures of the North American Visionary Art scene. This position has given him the chance to act as a bridge between that spiritual movement and less typically “conscious” art scenes he is part of, like the street art, and skate art movements. Though he appreciates all scenes he is associated with, he wants to break boxes and manifest the “Oneness” he believes is the love consciousness beneath it all.
It is my great privilege to share a deep, personal, and hilarious discussion with 60's icon, Merry Prankster, and personal hero of mine; Ken Babbs.
Ken and I discuss the origin of the hippies and the birth of the counter culture. We discuss his relationship with Ken Kesey, with the interview actually taking place on Ken Kesey's 85th birthday. What an honor! We also touch on the history of psychedelics, the acid tests,
God, Aliens, Angels, and more...Wow! Join Us!
Ken Babbs is a famous Merry Prankster who became one of the psychedelic leaders of the 1960s. He along with best friend and Prankster leader, Ken Kesey wrote the book Last Go Round. Babbs is best known for his participation in the Acid Tests and on the bus Furthur.
Ken Babbs was raised in Mentor, Ohio. He attended the Case Institute of Technology (where he briefly studied engineering) for two years on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Miami University, from which he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English literature in 1958. He then attended the Stanford University graduate creative writing program on a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship from 1958–59; having entered the NROTC program to fund his undergraduate studies, Babbs was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps following the end of his fellowship. He trained as a helicopter pilot and served in one of the first American advisory units in Vietnam from 1962-63 prior to his discharge and reunion with Kesey in 1964. Babbs had no understanding of the impact the war had on him until he received his orders to go to Vietnam. His insight soon began to take definition. Babbs later stated that he “had no perceptions of the right or wrong of the situation before I went to Vietnam, but it took about six weeks to realize we were wasting our time there... being humble, respect[ing] local customs, learn[ing] the language and helping does more good than hurting.”
In the fall of 1958, Babbs took a writing class at Stanford with another Wilson Fellow, Ken Kesey. Babbs later described meeting Kesey as “a moment of mirth and sadness, highness and lowliness, interchanging of ideas and musical moments.” They soon became best friends, maintained a correspondence while Babbs was stationed in the Far East with the Marines, and eventually formed the Merry Pranksters.
